blog#4-I was surprised when..

I was surprised when Bryon turned Mark in to the police after finding drugs under Mark's bed. Though Mark was selling drugs to get money for their house, and even though they're best friends, Bryon makes choice to call the police. After this incident, Mark is never able to forgive Bryon because he thinks of this as a betrayal from his best buddy. I think that it was right thing for Bryon to call the police on Mark because selling drugs are illegal; it is not good for Mark and the people who buy it. However, if i was in Bryon's situation, I would talk to Mark about it first about what's going on and then do the right thing and call the police. Because Bryon called the police department without thinking or considering Mark, Mark feels betrayed and hurt which causes their beautiful friendship to come to an end.

blog#3-personal connections

The book, 'That was then, this is now' had so much realistic connections that I could make while reading it. The story went on by Bryon, one of the main character in the book in the form of a diary. He struggles between his brother like friend, Mark, and his new love, Cathy. Mark was adopted into Bryon's family (Bryon and his mom) when his parents killed each other with a shot gun over a huge fight. Ever since then, Mark and Bryon had been dearest friends, even closer than blood shared brothers. But when Bryon meets Cathy, he slowly spends more time with her than Mark, who gets the feeling of being left out of his best friend's life. This kind of situation made deep connection with my life because as a christian, I too, sometimes struggle between God and worldly things. Friends sometimes comes first for me, and I know how much that would hurt my God. As I read through this book, 'That was then, this is now' I have learned how important it is to balance out your life with people who you truely need to survive.

blog #2:The beggining of the Novel

My book, 'That was then, what is now' started off slowly in the beginning. When I read books, I usually prefer something that starts off with a big scene or action, but I have noticed that the book's author, S.E. Hinton writes books with slow beginnings. ('The Outsiders' is an example of his works) The two main characters are introduced, both Mark and Bryon revealing their unique characteristics already, without having to go too deep into the novel. I have to say that so far the book is better than what the blurr on the back has summarized. The book is easy to read, hiding something deeper, an amazing lesson placed beneath the covers.

Prediction-entry1

I choose the book, 'That was then, This is now' by S.E.Hinton, written by one of my favorite authors of all times. The reasn why I choose this book was because of it's title; it gave an image of some what mysterious and facinating, looking so connected with our everyday lives. I predict that this is a story of two brothers, Bryon and Mark, growing up and reaching their adult hood. The book's cover helped me to visualize how strong of a friendship they share through struggles that they have to overcome and defeat. The main theme and the lesson of this book would most likely be sticking up to friendships and realizing how important it is for you to survive your life. I'm excited to read this book because I know that I can relate this book with my own life and learn great deal out of it.
